How to Upload an Investment Policy

This article explains how to upload them manually or in bulk and how they appear in the mobile app for the insured user.

Updated over 5 months ago

Step 1: Go to the Policies Section

  1. In the left-hand menu, go to Policies.

  2. Click Add Policy.

Investment policies are individual only. Group investment policies are not supported.

Step 2: Choose the Upload Method

You can upload:

  • A single policy manually

  • Multiple policies via Excel or CSV

In this example, we’ll use the online Excel upload.

Step 3: Fill in Required Fields

In the Excel form, complete the following fields:

final_balance

The current total amount in the investment

initial_balance

Starting value of the investment

invest_start_date

Date the investment began

monthly_deposit

Regular monthly contribution

current_monthly_deposit

The most recent deposit amount

Once uploaded, the policy will appear in the Policies list and under the corresponding Plan.

Step 4: Finance Performance View

Go to the Finance Performance section to see the metrics that will be visible in the insured user’s mobile app:

  • Cumulative Return

  • Annualized Return

  • Final Return

These values are calculated automatically based on the policy data.

Step 5: Monthly Updates (Optional)

You can update investment details over time:

  • Add new contributions using the Additional Deposits column

  • Log withdrawals in the Withdrawals column

  • Manually update:

    • final_balance

    • current_monthly_deposit

These changes will update the return values seen in the mobile app.

Custom Logic for Investment Models

If your investment product follows a different logic or structure:

  • Contact the Renova team

  • We can recommend a certified technical partner in your region to help implement a custom logic

By default, the investment structure used is compatible with most insurance providers on the platform.
